Alberta Environment has downgraded the Bow River from a Flood Watch to a High Streamflow Advisory. This is due to less precipitation occurring in the headwaters of the Bow River than expected (30-40 mm vs 100 mm). The Town has temporary dams in place on Birch Avenue to protect housing, and remains ready to fill the dams with water to create a barrier for flood protection if needed.
Everyone except local residents are asked to avoid the area around the Recreation Grounds and Birch Avenue due to emergency response personnel and equipment in the area.
All river-side trails remain open, but the situation could change. Avoid riverbanks due to slippery and unstable conditions and fast-moving water.
