Banff hockey fans will get a preview of new head coach Alain Vigneault’s New York Rangers this week, as the Broadway Blueshirts bring their pre-season training camp to The Fenlands, Banff Recreation Centre, at 100 Norquay Road.
Practices are open to public, on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Rangers have not scheduled after practice autograph sessions however.
Practices are Thursday, Sept. 19, 8:30 to 11:45 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 23, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Rangers travel to Calgary later on Monday to face off against the Flames in a pre-season game, before heading to Edmonton, Vancouver and Los Angeles.
While in Banff, the Rangers will play in a charity golf tournament for Alberta Flood Relief on September 19 at the Fairmont Banff Springs. Proceeds will be donated to the Rotary Club of Canmore Flood Relief Fund and the Banff Community Foundation.
The Winnipeg Jets are the next NHL team to stop at The Fenlands. Their practices will not be open to public.
