The Town of Banff has commissioned Ipsos opinion research firm to call Banff residents through the rest of April to measure their satisfaction with services and gauge community priorities. The phone calls to landlines and cell phones will randomly select 350 Banff residents to identify the most important services and rate how the Town is doing.
The number displayed on calls from the Ipsos agent is either (403) 986-2928 or (587) 410-0429, depending on your telephone carrier.
“ We ask people to answer the call from these numbers to give feedback on our municipal services and help us determine where we need to do better,” said Kelly Gibson, Town Manager. “Unfortunately, due to the amount of spam calls, many people don’t answer their phone. Phone surveys are still a great way to randomly select people to give us valuable feedback, so I sincerely hope residents will answer our call.”
The Ipsos research company obtains phone numbers for the Banff area from telephone service providers, without any names or specific addresses, keeping the survey completely confidential.
The Town of Banff uses the survey results to understand the perceptions of residents about municipal services, identify areas for improvement, and assess the overall quality of life in Banff. The opinion survey takes up to 20 minutes and includes questions about Town priorities such as sustainability initiatives. The telephone survey aims to reflect the age distribution of the actual population in Banff according to the most recent Census data.
This opinion survey in 2023 will be compared to 2017 survey results and similar topics in other nearby communities. Based on advice from public opinion research experts, the Town can expect a drop in some surveyed attributes due to the global impact of the COVID pandemic on quality of life. The survey provides a valid snapshot of opinions at this specific time.
Findings from this survey provide a performance-based report for Council and Administration and serve as an important tool for understanding the needs of Banffites. In 2023, this opinion survey will be complemented by the Community Social Assessment, and the consultation on the Banff Community Plan.
