The Town of Banff is calling on all residents of Banff to take part in the 2023 Community Social Assessment to help identify ways to make improvements for people who live here.
This will be the fourth time the Town has conducted the assessment, which is completed every five years. It is meant to gauge the changing needs of Banff residents over time, identify what is going well, and help determine how best to direct support services and close any gaps in what our community needs.
“We made significant enhancements in Banff in response to resident feedback we received after our last Community Social Assessment in 2018,” said Corrie DiManno, Mayor of the Town of Banff.
DiManno highlights examples such as another housing development, expanding the Good Food Box program, adding free local transit, hundreds of free drop-in programs, free composting kits, a Library of Things program, more gathering space and an additional tier allowing more people to receive free and low-cost benefits with the Banff Access Program.
“But a lot has changed in our community since the last assessment, including a pandemic that affected all of our lives. I encourage everyone who lives here to provide us with honest feedback about what's working, what needs to change, and how we can improve the services we offer so folks can thrive and flourish in Banff.”
Residents are invited to join one of many community conversations being held in town to collect input. Surveys will also be available online. Find out how to participate in one of the listed community conversations or, if the time options are not convenient, residents can take the survey at BanffViewpoints.ca/BestLife.

In 2023, the Community Social Assessment is being complemented by the phone survey that was conducted by Ipsos in April and early May. If you were contacted by phone to participate in the Ipsos opinion survey, you are still encouraged to give more information by participating in the conversations of the Community Social Assessment.
