The 2014 Alberta Winter Games are almost here.
Co-hosted by the Towns of Banff and Canmore, we’re set to welcome more than 2,500 young athletes, their coaches and officials to the Bow Valley for four days of games February 6-9.
The games will kick-off in Olympic style with a torch relay through both communities and an opening ceremony in downtown Banff on Thursday, February 6.
The pre-show will begin at 6:30 p.m. with both on-stage and on-street entertainment, followed by the main event at 7:30 p.m., which includes the athletes’ welcome, arrival of the final torch runner and lighting of the cauldron.
There will be some road closures, traffic interruptions and parking restrictions to accommodate the ceremony. Please see the attached map for details.
