The RBC GranFondo is on Saturday, August 20 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is a 150km mass cycling event through Banff National Park. There will be some road closures/traffic interruptions to accommodate the event:
2 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Bow Avenue from Wolf Street to Buffalo Street closed (No Parking)
3 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Buffalo Street from Bow Avenue to Bear Street closed (No Parking)
6:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. Tunnel Mountain Drive closed (No Parking)
6:45 a.m. – 9 a.m. Buffalo Street from the Banff Centre to Muskrat Street closed (No Parking)
6:55 a.m. – 7:10 a.m. Banff Avenue northbound and southbound lanes closed for start. Expect a 15 minute delay
6:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. Tunnel Mountain Road closed
6:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. Westbound exit from Trans-Canada Highway onto Banff Avenue closed
6:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. Banff Avenue access to Trans-Canada Highway eastbound via Minnewanka interchange closed. However, eastbound Trans-Canada Highway accessible via Norquay and Compound Road interchanges.
6:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. Banff Avenue access to Trans-Canada Highway westbound via Minnewanka interchange closed
6:45 a.m. – 9 a.m. Lake Minnewanka Drive closed
7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Vermilion Lakes Road closed
7:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. Bow Valley Parkway closed
For wildlife contingency the 9 a.m. reopening of closed roads will be extended to 10 a.m.
