Snow & Ice Report – Monday, February 6
A snowfall warning is still in place for the Town of Banff and another 5 to 10 cm is expected over the next 12 hours. Current accumulation is between 20 and 30 cm, and in some places this may be more due to windy/drifting conditions.
Extra personnel was brought in on the weekend to help keep the driving lanes open, and today staff from the Utilities department are assisting with plowing operations. Currently we’re maintaining the 1st and 2nd priority routes (see map), having to revisit these area continually due to blowing snow.
Over the next two days staff will continue to plow and maintain driving lanes and to plow parking lots and alleys as per the snow and Ice policy. We can expect snow removal operations to begin on Wednesday.
Also of note, we have temporarily closed the Bear St. parkade roof until the accumulation of snow can be removed. We anticipate having it open for the weekend.
Winter Parking Regulations
Winter parking regulations are in effect until May 1 in parts of downtown Banff. Check the map to see where on-street parking is restricted or learn more about winter snow maintenance at banff.ca/snow
