[ARCHIVED] Apply for a Greenhouse Plot

Community greenhouses are run by the Banff Greenhouse Gardening Society and Banff residents are invited to apply for a greenhouse plot.

Apply for a Greenhouse Plot
Visit banff.ca/register, and select 2019 Spring & Summer in the blue filters tab.

Returning Gardening: If you are on Year 2 of your term, select Course Code BG-PL-01.
All returning gardeners must pay their annual membership of $5 and plot fee of $40. Returning gardeners must pay for their plot and membership by no later than March 31, 2019. Plots unpaid by March 31, 2019 will be returned to the general lottery.

New Gardeners: For new applicants, or those who were unsuccessful in previous years, select Course Code BG-PL-02

Garden plots are awarded based on a lottery system run by members of the Banff Greenhouse Gardening Society. There are approx. 50 plots available to new gardeners. When applying, you can select your preferred location, however, assignment of plots will be based on availability. Plot locations include both the Cascade Mall and the Banff Recreation Grounds greenhouses. Applications are due March 31, 2019.

The gardening society and the Town of Banff are in the process of constructing a third community greenhouse at the recreation grounds. Applicants in the 2019 lottery who are not successful and volunteer to help build the third greenhouse will automatically be entered into a new lottery. Construction is scheduled for the weekends of early April with the goal of opening the new facility, late April/early May.

Prerequisites for Applying
You must have lived in Banff for the past six months and be over the age of 18 to register for a plot. For fairness and equity in the lottery system we ask that you only submit one application per household or group. There is a $5 non-refundable application fee (successful applicants will have their $5 application fee applied to their first year membership). Successful applicants will be required to pay the $40 annual plot fee and an additional $20 damage deposit (damage deposit will be rolled over to year 2 of the membership).
