[ARCHIVED] Unwanted Item Pickup now Online

Unwanted Item By Bin

Banff residents can now schedule an unwanted item pickup online.

Free pickups of unwanted or large items has been provided by the Town of Banff for several years, but now residents are able to schedule a time for pickups conveniently online

We will collect almost anything, if you register for pickup, including:

  • yard waste
  • furniture
  • appliances
  • tires
  • clothing

We will even collect household hazardous waste, such as motor oil and old paint, as long as it’s in a sealed and labelled container.

We will NOT pick up anything that was attached to the home, and is therefore considered renovation waste. Items we will NOT pick up include:

  • Drywall
  • Deck boards
  • Kitchen cabinets
  • Scrap wood
  • Sinks
  • Insulation
  • Wall-to-wall carpeting
  • Shipping pallets
  • Household flooring
  • Hot water tanks
  • Furnaces
  • Toilets
  • Windows
  • Doors
  • Yard waste with branches more than 4 inches thick
  • Anything weighing more than 23 kg (50 pounds)
  • Excessively large/long items

These items must be brought to the Transfer Station at 160 Hawk Avenue, open seven days a week except public holidays, 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. (The driver has final discretion on what is suitable for pickup, based on this list, collector safety and vehicle capacity.) The Town of Banff is not permitted to pick up items on private property. Please ensure that all items are clearly identifiable, in one neat pile and left curbside between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on your pickup date.

Remember, leaving things next to garbage bins is illegal dumping and it’s a wildlife attractant. Keep our streets clean and free of wildlife and schedule a pickup online.
