Sign up for Emergency Alerts

May 3 – 9 is Emergency Preparedness Week. The Town of Banff wants to remind all individuals and businesses to sign up for Emergency Alerts at banff.ca/emergency. 
Be ready for flood, wildfire, train derailment, and COVID emergencies. An Evacuation Guide will be delivered to all Banff dwellings later this month. Always be ready for an emergency – be prepared and stay informed.  

Shop Local

It is important to support local businesses during these challenging times. Help keep our community vibrant by visiting local stores while practicing physical distancing, shopping online, ordering takeout or delivery, or purchasing a gift card for future use. Visit banff.ca/OpenInBanff for listing of businesses operating at this time.

For businesses, customized “We’re Open” signs are available to let customers know how 
to purchase your goods and services. Go to banff.ca/covidbusiness for details.

Property Tax Deferral

In an effort to support those who are experiencing financial hardship at this time, the Town of Banff is offering to suspend the Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP). We are also offering to refund any payments that have already been made between January and April on your tax account. We would encourage those who can still make their monthly payments to continue to do so. To make changes to your tax payments please email taxes.utilities@banff.ca. 

Property Tax Deferral

People who are unable or do not want to collect their utility bill from the Post Office can request an email copy of the bill. To request this service, email taxes.utilities@banff.ca.

Spring Cleaning in Banff

Wildfire Hazards Cleanup Day

Saturday, May 9

Banff’s FireSmart Program wants all Banff property owners to participate in a vegetation and yard debris cleanup day. Homeowners are encouraged to spend a few hours in their yards reducing accumulations of vegetation and debris that contribute to wildfire spread when fire danger climbs later in the summer.

Free pickup starts May 11

Gather up all your branches, stems and yard debris for collection during community collection days. Please ensure it is only vegetation (no building materials or garage/basement junk). No stems thicker than 10 cm/4 inches and none longer than
3 metres/10 feet. Please call 403.762.1240 to schedule your pickup.

Street Sweeping

We’re sweeping dirt and debris from the roads. Please obey all temporary no parking signs. To find out the schedule visit banff.ca/sweeping.

Large Item Pick Up

Schedule an unwanted item pickup by calling 403.762.1240 or fill out the online form at pickup.banff.ca. Don’t just dump things by garbage bins. We’re still scheduling pickups of furniture, appliances, etc. This is a free service for residents.

Thank You to Essential Services!

We would like to recognize the health professionals, first responders, and others who continue to provide essential services for our Town. This also includes grocery store and restaurant workers providing food to our residents, Banff Food Rescue, Roam Public Transit drivers, and teachers (with parents) who are working tirelessly educating our children, and many more front-line workers. Thank You to all our essential service workers!

Staying Safe Outside

With warmer weather, we are urging residents to continue to follow all public health directives from Alberta Health Services while being outside. We know the sunshine can be enticing but how we act now will save lives. Please avoid gatherings in all public places, including common areas like rivers and parks. Check out the recreation activities you can do at home at banff.ca/active. It is important to remain physically, mentally and spiritually active.
