We're Safely Opening our Doors

Thank you to our community for helping to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Banff. Everyone has worked diligently to control the virus, allowing the Town to gradually reopen. We are ready to safely welcome back visitors and are implementing a measured approach with significant safety protocols to keep our residents safe and allow businesses to continue to resume services. Downtown pedestrian zone

The 100 and 200 blocks of Banff Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic starting June 5 until September to allow for better physical distancing and to help businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be a pedestrian-only zone; cyclists and skateboarders must dismount before entering. Learn more at banff.ca/BanffAve.

Banff National Park increasing services

Banff National Park is gradually restoring visitor access to trails and day-use areas. Services will resume at some facilities with the exception of campgrounds and national historic sites which remain closed. High streamflow advisory

Alberta Environment has issued a high streamflow advisory for the Bow River, including the Town of Banff. Use extreme caution around Bow River Trails and obey all warning signs. Sections of the trail between the canoe docks and Bow River Bridge are closed. The Banff Canoe Docks are closed due to the high streamflow. Avoid all river recreation due to dangerous conditions.

Water levels in the Upper Bow basin remain above average, with recent rain and snowmelt at higher elevations. For information on river conditions, visit rivers.alberta.ca. Sign up for emergency alerts in Banff at banff.ca/emergency.

Open in Banff

As the province begins to implement its relaunch strategy, the Town of Banff has established a web page dedicated to listing open businesses in Banff. This listing showcases contact information and the types of service being offered at local establishments. To add your business to the listing, contact communications@banff.ca. Farmers Market in Banff

The market is open every Wednesday throughout the summer at Central Park. Stay away if you are feeling sick, or have been in close contact with someone who is sick. Avoid lining up and book your entry online at thebanfffarmersmarket.com. Plan ahead by looking up vendors and menus online. Stay 2 metres/6 feet apart when lining up and in the market. Only one person per household should attend the market. Mask use is recommended. Use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting. Do not touch items, and pay with cards. No pets or bikes allowed in the market. All food is to go, for enjoyment at home.

Staff PPE Training

Local emergency medical services are providing businesses with staff training on the use of PPE and respiratory precautions to help prepare for reopening. To schedule an appointment for free training, contact Chris de Vries of the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital at 403.760.7237.

Emotion Coaching Workshop

June 16 & 19
7 – 8 p.m.

This two-session online Zoom workshop gives parents tools to be emotionally responsive parents and raise emotionally healthy children. The Gottman Institute has developed Emotional Intelligence tools after more than 20 years of research on relationships, families and parenting styles. For families with children eight and under. Legacy Trail connections

Construction is underway to complete the Legacy Trail East extension in front of the Inns of Banff and is expected to be finished at the end of June. Work will take place Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Drivers please watch for cyclists. Please obey all construction signs and flaggers.
