Free COVID-19 Testing
COVID tests help Alberta Health Services track and contain the virus. Anyone in Alberta can be tested for COVID – even if they don’t have symptoms. For local testing locations, visit banff.ca/covid#testing.
Avoid Traffic and Delays
Recommend visitors use the best highway exit into town to avoid traffic and delays. With several roads closed to vehicles, help them plan ahead to make their visit more fun.
Use the Banff Avenue/Minnewanka exit for:
• Visitors checking into hotels or camping.
Use the Norquay Road exit for:
• Day visitors to access parking at the Train Station Public Parking Lot. It’s free and parking is allowed there for 9 hours. It’s just an 8 minute walk to downtown Banff.
• Visitors accessing destinations across the bridge.
Remind campers camping at Tunnel Mountain, to take the free Roam Public Transit bus into town to avoid having to find parking.
National Drowning Prevention Week
July 19 – 25
Celebrate National Drowning Prevention Week. Be water smart and know your limits while enjoying Banff’s lakes and rivers year round. Make smart choices before going into or out on the water:
- Be boat smart and always wear a life jacket when in a boat.
- Always directly supervise children around the water - if you’re not within arms’ reach, you’ve gone too far.
- Always swim with a buddy.
Drowning is preventable. Over 400 Canadians die in preventable water-related incidents annually. Even one drowning is one too many. Learn more at lifesaving.org.
Farmers Market Safety
Make your farmers market visit safe by following distancing markers in line to access the market, keep a 2-meter physical distance at all times and wear a mask. The market is open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m every Wednesday throughout the summer at Central Park. Avoid the line up by booking your visit online at thebanfffarmersmarket.com.
Avoid Attending and Hosting Garage Sales
With it getting warmer, we want to remind you that garage sales are not recommended right now due to the risk of COVID-19, the inability to disinfect items between customers, and lack of controls for physical distancing. Instead, use facebook buy and sell groups and/or Kijiji.
