Survey on COVID-19

Impacts, Opinions and Expectations

Banff has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in different ways than other communities, due to the impact on visitation and the economy. The municipal government and many organizations have provided supports to the community and actions to improve safety. For example, the downtown blocks of Banff Avenue were closed to vehicle traffic to provide additional space for pedestrians to practice physical distancing while providing more outdoor space for businesses to serve customers safely.

Residents: take our survey on the COVID response at banffviewpoints.ca. Survey closes August 30, 2020.

Masks for Residents

Residents can collect a supply of masks (16 per bag) from Banff Safety Ambassadors at the tent at Caribou and Banff Avenue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday to Thursday, until September 13. Learn more at banff.ca/covidmasks.

Combustible Roof Replacement

The Combustible Roof Replacement Incentive Program offers financial incentives to homeowners whose homes have an unrated combustible roof. Successful projects qualify for $900 per home. Learn more and apply at banff.ca/firedepartment.

Property Taxes

Property taxes are due on August 31

The 2020 Banff property taxes payment deadline was extended to August 31 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Any outstanding balances need to be paid before August 31 to avoid any finance charges. Visit banff.ca/tipp for details on all the payment options.

Bear Street Construction

Banffites! If you’re headed to Bear Street, stop and ask a Bear Street Ambassador for the best route to your destination because there will be multiple closures to navigate around, or check the map on signs at each entrance for pedestrian detours. Please be courteous with the staff as they are trying to help you get to your destination as easily as possible. Maps at each entrance are updated daily and the sidewalk closures change every day as the construction crew connects water and sewer mains with each building.

For complete project information and schedules, visit brandnewbear.ca.

Shop Local

It is important to support local businesses during these challenging times. Help keep our community vibrant by visiting local stores while practicing physical distancing, shopping online, ordering takeout or delivery, or purchasing a gift card for future use.
