National Indigenous Peoples Day

Tuesday, June 21
The Town of Banff is helping support a day of art, music, and delicious food celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day. Activities will be offered at the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies west grounds, Banff Avenue Square, and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Find details at banff.ca/IndigenousPeoplesDay.

Help steer the Spray Avenue bus-only lane

Give your feedback on a project to remove a parking lane to create a bus-only lane on Spray Ave, from Bow Falls Avenue to Mountain Avenue. Join the Info Walk about the project Thursday, June 23, at 3 p.m. Learn more and provide your feedback before July 22 at banffviewpoints.ca/BusLane.


Business Environmental Leadership Working Group Recruitment

The Town of Banff is forming a Business Environmental Leadership Working Group to provide input on Banff’s environmental initiatives, such as the plan to eliminate certain single-use items given to consumers at shops and restaurants. The group will also help mobilize other businesses to take action on environmental priorities in Banff. Apply online at banff.ca/EnviroWorkingGroup. Applications close on Sunday, June 26.  

Be a Zero Waste Trail Ambassador

Are you passionate about zero waste and enjoy interacting with others? We’re looking for volunteers to be zero waste ambassadors for our "Zero Waste Trike" mobile sorting station at a few exciting upcoming events! Help protect the environment and have fun at any of the following festivities happening this June: National Indigenous Peoples Day: June 21, St John Baptiste Day: June 24, and Multicultural Day: June 27. More opportunities to champion Zero Waste will be available throughout the summer. To learn more,

Banff Marathon

Sunday, June 19

The Banff Marathon runs this Sunday. There will be some traffic impacts throughout the day to accommodate the race, especially on Lynx and Wolf Streets. New this year, the race will finish on Bear Street. Find more information at banff.ca/Marathon.


Taste of Cultures

Friday, June 24: St Jean Baptiste Day, Monday, June 27: Multicultural Day

Experience a taste of our diverse cultures in the Bow Valley at the Whyte Museum. Learn about the significance of these holidays, enjoy performances, art workshops and savour bite-size samples of locally created cultural foods representing Indigenous, Francophone, East Indian, Filipino, Japanese and Tibetan cultures. Canada Day
Friday, July 1

Banff is turning the Downtown Pedestrian Zone into an entertainment space for Canada Day. Performers and displays will provide a full-day of activities dispersed in and around downtown, including Banff Avenue, Bear Street, the Whyte Museum grounds, and the high school field. Activities include marching bands, colour guards, a bicycle parade, First Nations culture and performance, live music and a low-noise pyrotechnics show. Plan your day at banff.ca/CanadaDay.
