Town to reverse lane in trial on Bow River Bridge
The Town of Banff will trial a lane reversal on the vehicle bridge for several hours on the afternoon of Saturday, August 13. The trial will temporarily turn one of the two southbound lanes into a northbound lane. Residents and businesses have asked for this trial to see if it has a positive impact on Mountain Avenue traffic. Congestion on Mountain Avenue is affected by the volume of vehicles who visit the Gondola and Hot Springs, and are immediately turned back to downtown due to lack of parking. Running this trial on a day that is typically very busy will help us understand if a lane reversal has a positive impact on the congestion.
