Town of Banff Information

Food scraps and recycling must be separated by businesses

The Town of Banff has passed a bylaw that requires businesses to separate food scraps and recycling from garbage. The bylaw came into effect Saturday, October 1, with enforcement beginning in 2023. Many Banff businesses are already taking this measure, and some have even been awarded Trailblazers status for going above and beyond in their efforts to move toward zero waste. Businesses can request a meeting with the Town for information on the bylaw, kitchen signage and materials or presentations for staff. Visit
banff.ca/BusinessFoodWaste for more information on the bylaw requirements or email zero.waste@banff.ca.

Berry removal

Parks Canada will be removing berry bushes starting this week to reduce bears attracted to the area near the railway tracks, from Marmot Crescent to the Train Station Parking Lot. For your safety, please stay away from areas where cutting is occurring and avoid the large piles set aside for chipping and disposal. Residents are encouraged to remove berry bushes in private yards in this area, as an increase in bear activity has been recorded this year.
