Horse Trail Survey

When should you have input?

The Town of Banff is developing a public input policy that will guide when and how to collect input on municipal decisions. We’re holding a drop-in session Tuesday, November 22, from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall, to gather input on the policy principles. Learn more at BanffViewpoints.ca/PublicInputPolicy. 

Close doors for climate action

Banff businesses must now keep their doors closed to reduce energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This new regulation – in effect from the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to the last Friday in April (except when temperatures go above +10C) – is in place as part of our climate action plan and environmental protection efforts. This new rule will help our community achieve targets of a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions below 2016 levels by 2030.

New playground coming

A new Adventure and Nature Playground is being planned for the Banff Recreation Grounds! This new playground for toddlers and older children will provide fun activities like swings and slides, but also nature-based features to foster creativity and social, cognitive and social development.The final design will be completed mid-December, with construction scheduled to begin in the spring of 2023. Age-Friendly Workshops

Tuesday, November 8 and 15, 12 – 2 p.m.
The Town of Banff is hosting two identical sessions to review eight areas in the Age-Friendly Checklist to compile feedback from residents and stakeholders about gaps in our community. The town is inviting residents 55+ to these sessions. Please register for either session by emailing Community.Services@banff.ca or calling 403.762.1251. Lunch will be provided. 

Remembrance Day Parade

Friday, November 11, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Join the Banff Legion for their annual Remembrance Day parade. The parade starts at the Legion, travels to Banff Elementary School for a ceremony, and then marches back to the Legion.

MountainLIFE Avalanche Safety Training 2

December 10 – 12
Avalanche Skills Training 2 is the perfect course for advanced skiers, snowboarders and ice climbers. This course starts in the classroom where you will review the basics and be introduce to advanced avalanche safety concepts and decision-making tools for various weather, snowpack and terrain conditions. Days two through four will take place in the field, and will include ski tours with skill application in a group setting. Try ice climbing with MountainLIFE

Saturday, December 10, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Join an ACMG guide, and learn the basics of ice climbing in this one-day course. Learn how to use various ice climbing gear such as a harness, ice axes and crampons, ropes and belay systems.
