Homegrown Art Show: call for artists

Each spring Banff Town Hall hosts the work of artists from throughout the Bow Valley. This community exhibition is aimed at helping young, new and emerging artists share and celebrate their work with friends, families and other community members. Following an opening on Friday, March 3, from 7 to 9 p.m., the exhibition runs until the end of March. Indoor walking and social

Escape winter with indoor walking, and join a certified fitness leader at The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre. Participants can choose to walk through the facility or use the cardio equipment in the fitness room. Coffee and tea will be served following. Parents or guardians with children in strollers are welcome to join. Open to all Bow Valley residents. Free. No registration required. Held January 11 –  March 31 on Wednesdays from 1:30 –  3:30 p.m. and Fridays from 9 –  11 a.m. Visit banff.ca/DropIn to learn more. 

Smoke Free Banff Bylaw

Starting February 1, smoking and vaping of tobacco and nicotine products will not be in many places in the Town of Banff. This new bylaw will prohibit smoking or vaping in municipal parks, trails and pathways, outdoor markets and events, bus stops, sidewalks, pedestrian zones, and in proximity to children not in one's care. Smoking cannabis publicly is banned town-wide to learn more about this upcoming change visit banff.ca/SmokeFree.


Christmas Tree recycling

Recycle your natural Christmas Tree by dropping it off at the Beaver Street Parking Lot next to the Fire Hall before January 16. Please ensure you have removed all ornaments and decorations. To recycle your tree after January 16, drop it off at the Waste Transfer Site, 160 Hawke Avenue

Bed and Breakfast Information Session

Tuesday, January 17, 11 a.m. –  1 p.m.
Banff Town Council is considering amendments to the Land Use Bylaw relating to the requirements for Bed and Breakfast Homes and Bed and Breakfast Inns. Attend this session at Banff Town Hall, 11 a.m. –  1 p.m. to learn more about the proposed changes. To learn more, visit banff.ca/BedandBreakfast.

Single Use Item Reduction Workshop

Monday, January 16, 12 – 3 p.m. 
Food service operators are invited to this workshop focused on the reduction of single use items and accelerating reuse practices in Banff. Register by January 13 by emailing carla.bitz@banff.ca.

Postive Ways to Parent Sessions

Mondays, January 16 – February 6, Online Zoom sessions, 6 – 7 p.m.
Learn about positive ways to parent in this four-session program. Topics will cover cross cultural-parenting, managing stress in challenging times, routines and boundaries, and healthy parent and child relationships. Friday, February 3, 1 – 5 p.m., Register by Thursday, January 19

Circle of Security Parenting Program

Six-week program, 10 - 11:30 a.m., starting Tuesday, January 31
Do you have children 6 years old and under? The Circle of Security Parenting program is derived from attachment-based research on how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. This program will help you understand your child's emotional needs, ability to manage emotions, development of self-esteem, and more. Free and open to all Bow Valley families.
