Smoke Free Banff Bylaw

Starting February 1, smoking and vaping of tobacco and nicotine products will not be allowed in many places in the Town of Banff. This new bylaw will prohibit smoking or vaping in municipal parks, trails and pathways, outdoor markets and events, bus stops, sidewalks, pedestrian zones, and in proximity to children not in one’s care. Smoking cannabis publicly is banned town-wide. To learn more about this upcoming change visit banff.ca/SmokeFree.  


Homegrown Art Show: call for artists

Each spring Banff Town Hall hosts the work of artists from throughout the Bow Valley. This community exhibition is aimed at helping young, new and emerging artists share and celebrate their work with friends, families, and other community members. Following an opening on Friday, March 3, from 7 to 9 p.m., the exhibition runs until the end of March. Visit banff.ca/Homegrown for more information and to register to display your work by Friday, February 17.

Need power tools?

Avoid buying tools you will only use once by checking out the Library of Things at the Banff Public Library. Borrow a wide range of tools and hardware, plus equipment for hobbies, home, and cooking. Learn more at banff.ca/LibraryofThings.

Indoor Walking & Social

Escape winter with indoor walking at The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre with certified fitness leader Kiley Torti. Participants can choose to walk through the facility or use the cardio equipment in the fitness room. Held until March 31 on Wednesdays, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. and Fridays, 9 – 11 a.m. Learn more at banff.ca/DropIn.

Positive Ways to Parent Sessions

Mondays, running until February 6, Online Zoom sessions, 6 –  7 p.m.
Learn about positive ways to parent in this four-session program. Topics will cover cross-cultural parenting, managing stress in challenging times, routines and boundaries, and healthy parent and child relationships. Money 101: Who can you really trust?

Tuesday, January 31, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Who can you trust? Where can we find reliable financial resources? Learn from Constable Frenette, from he Banff RCMP detachment, and the most common investment fraud stategies and tactics, and the red flags you should look for. This session will take place in the Catharine Robb Whyte Building, 101 Bear Street. Register by emailing community.services@banff.ca.

Circle of Security Parenting Program

Six-week program, 10 - 11:30 a.m., starting Tuesday, January 31
Do you have children 6 years old and under? The Circle of Security Parenting program is derived from attachment-based research on how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. This program will help you understand your child's emotional needs, ability to manage emotions, development of self-esteem, and more. Free and open to all Bow Valley families.
