Town of Banff Information

Pedestrian Zone set to reopen

Banff Avenue will close to vehicles on Monday, May 15, in preparation for the Downtown Pedestrian Zone between Wolf and Buffalo streets, and the adjacent sections of Caribou Street. Banff Avenue will reopen to pedestrians, cyclists and skateboarders from May 19 to October 13. Roam transit buses will be detoured May 15 – 19, but will continue to use Banff Avenue, with increased frequency this year. The Town will seek input in the fall on the concept of making the Pedestrian Zone a recurring summer feature. For details, visit banff.ca/BanffAve.

Community Social Assessment

The Town of Banff is calling on all residents of Banff to take part in the 2023 Community Social Assessment to help identify ways to make improvements for people who live here. This will be the fourth time the Town has conducted the assessment, which is completed every five years. It is meant to gauge the changing needs of Banff residents over time, identify what is going well, and help determine how best to direct support services and close any gaps in what our community needs. The Town of Banff will be collecting feedback until June 30, 2023. Learn more at BanffViewpoints.ca/BestLife.

Share the Trail

The trail parallel to Cave Avenue becomes a shared trail with horses this summer. Banff Trail Riders will walk horses along the path each morning and evening. Please yield to horses and give them space. The trail will be widened in May to accommodate the daily transportation of horses in summer months. This will also give extra space to pedestrians and cyclists.
