Skateboard

Try Skateboarding

This program is for beginners who want to learn to skateboard with experienced instructors. You will learn how to stand, push off, and balance, along with proper etiquette and behaviour for safety in the park and on the roads. All ages welcome. Registration required. Skateboards will be provided for participants who do 
not have one. 

Helmets are required for participants under the age of 18 and highly recommended for everyone over the age of 18. (Bike, ski or hockey helmets are all acceptable).

Sundays, 9 – 10 a.m.

National Drowning Prevention Week

Celebrate the Lifesaving Society’s awareness week with events held through July 21 – 27. Attend the following event at the Banff Centre's Sally Borden pool to learn more about water and swimming safety.

Saturday, July 27, 1 – 2 p.m.

Family survival swimming drop-in clinic

Learn what to do if you accidently fall into a body of water. Participants will practice 
a disoriented entry, treading water, and a 50m swim.

Reaching assists drop-in clinic

Learn how to help a friend or family member who has fallen into the water while keeping yourself safe. Participants will practice safe assists with a throw rope.

Big Red Ride

Big Red Ride

The Big Red Ride runs every Tuesday and Thursday, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., until September 26. All ability levels welcome on our four-seater 55+ Adaptive Electric Bike. Departing from Mount Edith House on Tuesdays, and Cascade House on Thursdays. Pre-registration is required, and the ride is for locals only. Rumble in the Rockies

5 p.m.

Bow Valley Roller Derby is back with the Lady Macs taking on the Rockyview Rollers at The Fenlands July 27 at 5 p.m. There's also a junior Invitational at 3 p.m.


Movie Under the Stars

Monday, July 29

8 p.m. 
Head to Central Park for a free movie under the stars. Bring your blankets and enjoy some popcorn! Cancelled if raining or high winds. Movie Under the Stars run every Monday night at 8 p.m. until the end of August.


Free Public Swim 

Sunday, July 28

1 – 4 p.m.
A free public swim sponsored by the Town of Banff is held the last Sunday of every month at The Banff Centre's Sally Borden pool, 107 Tunnel Mountain Drive.

Community Table 

Thursdays, 12 – 1 p.m.

Enjoy a delicious lunch of homemade soup, salad, fruit, tea and coffee; pop up cooking demonstrations, multicultural lunches and kid’s activity area. Community Table is also a distribution point for food rescue. Each week we have a variety of produce and bread to give away. Come early for the best selection and please bring your own bag.

Banff Mountain Market

Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The Banff Mountain Market will be in Central Park every Wednesday until October 2.
The market features local and regional vendors selling fresh fruits, vegetables, artwork, jewelry, apparel, beauty products, coffee, artisan foods, pottery, photography and other handcrafted goods.


Bear

Bear Safety

Be bear safe this summer. 

Please be aware of hiking restrictions through the park due to bear activity, hike in groups of four, and always carry bear spray when on the trail. Report bear sightings, within town and within the park to Banff National Park dispatch at 403.762.1470. For more information on bear safety, your responsibility in keeping bears out of town, and what to do in case of a sighting, visit: banff.ca/bears.
