7 – 9 p.m.nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up Directed by Tasha Hubbard **Playing for one night only at Lux Cinema, Banff** Director Tasha Hubbard explores the search for justice in the aftershock of the death of Colten Boushie, a young Cree man, and the later acquittal of the farmer responsible. Named Best Canadian Feature Documentary at the 2019 Hot Docs Film Festival, this film grapples with the history of colonialism in Canada and its reverberations into the present day. Reel Time features some of the best films from the Toronto International Film Festival. Organized by Walter Phillips Gallery, Reel Time has brought alternative cinema to the Bow Valley for over 15 years.

BanffLIFE Avalanche Skill Training Level 1
November 25 & 26
All Day
This is a two-day course on how to safely travel through avalanche terrain. The first day consists of lectures on the characteristics of avalanches, the mountain snowpack, avalanche terrain and backcountry travel as well as an outdoor session covering avalanche transceivers. The second day is spent in the field where we discuss how weather, snowpack and terrain interact to create avalanches and how we can avoid them. This course is based on the standards set by the Canadian Avalanche Centre and a certificate of completion is awarded to those who attend. $200, register at banff.ca/register. This course is for 18-30 year olds.
Power Skating for Adults
Wednesdays, November 7 – December 12
7:45 – 8:45 p.m.
Improve your skating skills to better your hockey game. Learn and review forward and backward skating, turns, stops and agility. Full equipment and stick required. We’ll cover the basics and build up to complex turns, stops and skills used in games. Ages 16+. To register, visit banff.ca/register.
