Why did the Town of Banff create a smoke-free bylaw?

This bylaw is about the health and wellbeing of all our residents and visitors. Second-hand smoke is harmful to others even outdoors, and provides a poor experience when walking down our streets, or playing in our parks, or taking in one of our events.

Everyone has the right to clean air – especially children – and this bylaw will help reduce the amount of second-hand smoke in our community.
