Immerse yourself in the magic of winter and let the snow fly! Just over a century ago (1917), the first Banff Winter Carnival kicked off with great fanfare and enthusiasm, much to the delight of locals and visitors alike. The original Winter Carnival faded into memory long ago, but in Banff the spirit of winter fun lives on! The Banff Winter Carnival Returns to the Cave and Basin National Historic Site this year with fun winter activities for all ages.

Join Parks Canada interpreters in Banff Avenue Square for winter stories and activities. Every Saturday from January 26 - March 30. NOTE: Programs may be cancelled due to extreme weather.
February 9, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM @ Banff Train Station
Bundle up for an evening winter walk with a Parks Canada guide. Come prepared to experience the wonder and cold of the season as you search for signs of Banff’s winter wildlife. Meet at the Banff Train Station then walk along the Fenland Trail. Register in person with Parks Canada Visitor Centre staff (on Banff Avenue) by 12 p.m. the day of the walk. Group size is limited to 12 participants. Headlamps will be provided.

On February 9, go back in time and party like it’s the 90s. Join us for an evening of dance battles, costumes and contests. A MuchMusic VJ will be there to host, take your requests and give you the chance to win amazing prizes! Need a break from the dance floor? Enjoy the photobooth, candy bar and more! All funds raised for Covenant Health's Banff Mineral Springs Hospital.

Stop by the Banff Public Library every Saturday and play, sing songs and tell stories. This program is for children 0-6 years of age and their parents. Snacks are provided. No registration required.

Join us on Saturdays throughout the school year to provide your little ones opportunities to meet friends, have active play, and ‘motor’ around the gymnasium. Parent participation is required. For ages 1 – 3.

Stop by the Banff Public Library for an hour of creative crafts, exciting activities and invigorating reading materials. Ages 4-7 are welcome from 1-2 p.m. and ages 8-12 are welcome from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Spots guaranteed to the first 15 participants.

Drop-in Public Skating is open to everyone. It's held Saturdays, 1:15-2:15 p.m. Helmets recommended.

Sketching is a fun way to improve your drawing skills with an experienced instructor. On nice days you will head outdoors. Bring a sketchbook, pencil and eraser. For ages 13+. Drop-in classes are held Saturdays from January 12-March 23.
