This hands-on program will provide you and your family with information to prepare you for safe travel in bear country. Learn about the general characteristics and habits of bears, how to use bear spray, and how to enjoy exploring our local trails while being bear prepared.

Join in a casual game of pickup basketball. Basketballs and pinnies provided. Ages 16+

Join a casual game of pickup basketball, volleyball, badminton or more. Equipment and pinnies provided. Ages 12 to 18

Join others to kick the ball around in a fun pickup game of soccer. Balls, pinnies and nets are provided. Ages 16+

Have fun roller skating or skateboarding while listening to music. Roller skate rentals and helmets available. All Ages. Children 6 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Netball is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players. Games are played on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Come out and join other locals while working up a sweat and learn a fun new game. Ages 16+

Join others in a fun game of pickup volleyball. You can work on your serves, volleys and setting in a great social setting. Volleyballs and nets provided. Ages 16+

If your child loves playing all different types of sports, then this MultiSport program is for perfect for them! Your child will join our amazing local coaches with sport specific expertise and will learn fundamental skills and techniques from running, catching, throwing, dribbling and more. Each week they will get to build on these skills and put them into play during some fun scrimmage time! Equipment is provided.

Join a guided hike with your family and learn what you need to pack and know for a safe and enjoyable day on the trails. This hike will cover the Day Hike10 Essential items, how to choose a trail for your family’s hiking ability, tips to keep your group together and motivated, leave no trace, and how to be WildSmart.

Head to the skatepark to learn to use your skateboard for tricks and for riding around town. You will spend the morning with several members of the Banff skateboarding community learning about equipment, how to ride, and etiquette in the park. Ages 6+

Enjoy an hour of guided outdoor painting to celebrate Recreation and Parks Month. Your instructor Mindy will have you using acrylic paints to create a beautiful outdoor masterpiece. All materials provided. For ages 8+

Discover the beauty of practicing yoga and creating a piece of art in the garden. With an abundance of flowers in bloom we’ll have endless inspiration from savoring the smells with mindful movements to intuitively painting our favourite flowers. A Zen experience to celebrate the outdoors for Parks and Recreation Day. Ages 16+
